Jordan Derkack’s combination of scoring and defense is one that is very valuable. In this rendition of his player profile, we’ll focus on only his scoring.
Through nine games with Dayton, Derkack is boasting the most efficient offensive season of his career, including career-best interior scoring and passing efficiency. His ability to draw free throws has always been his superpower, and thus far, he’s posted a ridiculous 152.8 free-throw rate that is unmatched in the country. This number will inevitably decrease a little bit as the sample size increases, but his overall rate will still remain in the 100th percentile as it always has. Additionally, his 55% on two-point attempts and 1.4 assist-to-turnover ratio are both career-best marks.
Derkack’s swing skill will always be his three-point shooting. He shot 26.4% from three coming into his senior year, and has shot 21.4% on 14 attempts thus far. If he’s able to convert threes at even a semi-respectable clip, it’ll give his interior scoring even more leverage. The good thing is that he continues to take threes and give himself the opportunity to make them, as his 38.9 three-point attempt rate is a career-high also.
